Time to Work on the Front
Front cross member, body mounts, and radiator cradle
![]() ![]() So after spending most of my time on the rear of the vehicle I started to work on the front fabrication. I’m leaving the front suspension stock. I like the ride of my 4Runner and want something similar on this car. Most of the front fabrication involved building the body mounts and a new radiator/inter cooler cradle. I got the inter cooler off eBay. It looks like its good quality and the price wasn’t bad. It has 2.5” inlet/outlets and measures ?” x ?”. ![]() ![]() ![]() I bolted the top of the IC to the front clip and the bottom to my custom cradle. I had to do some trimming to make room for the IC pipes. The radiator cradle was built out of some 16ga. I had lying around. I think it turned out well and there’s still room for a AC condenser between the IC and rad if I ever want to add on AC. ![]() ![]() ![]() I cut out the old front cross member because it was too far forward and was rusted out. The new one is built out of some 2” x 3/26” square tubing. I made it longer than the original cross member so that I could easily fabricate up the body mounts. The body mounts start with a piece of ¼” for the top and then 1/8” for the sides. Everything was fully welded except for the bottom. That will be done when everything comes apart for media blasting. ![]() ![]() ![]()
